CVTrail keeps a record of the jobs you apply to and the CVs and cover letters you send. This page explains what we store, why, and what you can do about it.
What we store
- Your name, email address and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. If you sign in with Google, we store your Google account ID instead of a password.
- The jobs you add: title, company, link, location, dates and notes.
- The CV and cover letter files you upload, exactly as you upload them.
- A sign-in record for each browser you use, so you stay signed in. We don’t keep your activity beyond what you save.
Who can see it
Only you. Every request is checked against your account, and files are only ever downloaded through your signed-in account. We don’t sell, share or advertise with your data, and we don’t read your files.
Fill from link
When you paste a job link, our server opens that page to read the job details. If the page doesn’t include them in a standard format and the AI helper is switched on, we send the text of that job advert (and nothing else) to Google’s Gemini service to pick out the details. Your CVs, cover letters, notes and account details are never sent.
Cookies
We use one cookie to keep you signed in, and a short-lived one while you sign in with Google. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.
Emails
We only email you when you ask to reset your password.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Deleting a job, CV or cover letter removes it straight away. Deleting your account (in Settings) removes everything, including your files, at once.
Your rights
You can see, change and delete your data at any time from inside CVTrail, and download any file you uploaded.
